Antimicrobial Peptide Prediction

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are important components of the innate immune systems of many species. The peptides can serve as a natural templates for the design of novel antimicrobial peptides. The number of uncharacterized proteins are increasing, there is need to develop robust computational techniques that can be used to mine new potential AMPs from the protein universe.

Support vector machine (SVM) is a classification technique that highly depends on certain hyperparameters that affects the classification accuracy. The aim of this study is to obtain the best hyperparameter values of SVM for different taxa and in particular for insects.
