Workshop Background: “This workshop is designed for Masters, PhD and PostDoc students with experience in viral sequence analysis. Students will be introduced to principles and techniques used in molecular phylogenetics. Topics to be covered include recombination, positive selection and coalescence analysis. HIV and Hepatitis C sequence will be used in the practical exercises.
Software to be presented: BEAST, PAML, RDP and the REGA HIV phylogenetic tool.”

Day1: Theory/Practical Lectures - Statistical inference in phylogenetics, population genetics and automated pipelines for phylogenetics analysis.
Day2: Theory/Practical Lectures - Recombination and positive selection.
